64k in June – Ty PokerStars!

30 06 2010

First of all I wanna thank you for a ton of comments I received via facebook. I will answer them asap.

Yesterday was maybe the juiciest day I ever had at 1k’s and 2k’s so far. A lot of fishes who won some MTTs before felt the need to donate some money. At the moment there aren’t many Pro’s playing cuz of the WSOP, so I could easily 3table them and didn’t need to share the action. In the end I ended up with a pretty solid $7,500 win – still some k’s under EV. Must be nice to play for $4,400 when the fish couldn’t even beat the $11 buyins. The session boosted my monthly win to almost 64k in total (rakeback+bonus included) – 30k with MTTs, 34k with HU SNGs.

I guess some of you are wondering about the title of this post and why I wanna thank PokerStars. Did they re-doomswitched me and helped me to boost my winnings? Well, I bet “treezer” would totally agree to that, cuz he is mega superstitiously and is still scared about cashing out some of his roll. (see recent-chat-goodies at the end of this post for more)
Fact is that they really helped me a lot recently. I’m not only talking about the great instant-mail support they offer VIPs, but about a sick problem I had with their software costing me $2,300 recently: Read the rest of this entry »

Connecting Facebook

27 06 2010

I know it’s time for a longer update. But I’m just too lazy atm to write another “every hand reveal”-novel… wtf. Here are just some short news and thoughts:

I thought it was time to connect my blog with a new Facebook-Account and hope some of you will take the chance to add me there. I will share more photos and stuff soon. Yeah – I still don’t wanna everybody of my old friends know what kind of semi-profession I do and prefered to register a new account. It’s always smart not to give too many information away I guess. Some months ago I read a pretty nice blog post from a guy who doesn’t tell new friends that he’s a poker player, but his profession was investor. Telling people you make “a living” from poker is never the best idea ofc. In the USA it might be little easier, but in Germany everybody will just see you as a pure gambler when you start talking about poker. Telling something more general like being an investor is a pretty good way not to tell too many details I think. I will try it one day if somebody asks me how I could afford a new car. Until then I will just run two facebook accounts.

Even though I will take a longer break next weeks from OnlinePoker there’s just no way not to reach Supernova Elite this year. I had a pretty nice session this evening and reached the 700k VPP milestone. 6 months to go, 300k VPP to collect – See you on the Bahamas!
Tomorrow I will play my last session of June. No matter how it will go, the month was just sick! Beside running like god and taking down the 30k in the $109 MTT I was able to make 27k with HU SNGs and therefor finally had another very sick juicy month with HU SNGs. Exactly what I needed after running and playing pretty bad both months before. Pokerwise, June is definitely a month to remember!
Again, I wanna thank you all for the congratulations on the tournament takedown (530 visitors the next day – wtf?!) and hope I will find the mood and the time to post some more next days.

Enjoy the summer and the World Cup, especially the German-English fight tomorrow! :D

Moritz Schmejkal, trader0811, in top4 of 10k WSOP HU MTT

21 06 2010

Moritz Schmejkal

Well known HU SNG pro “trader0811″ from Germany is crushing not only online, but live as well and on his way to his first WSOP bracelet. Read more at pokernews.com for actual news and live-ticker:

Edit:
Moritz Schmejkal lost vs. Ayaz Mahmood 0-2 playing best of three. Still a very, very sick result for Schmejkal taking home $386,600 as 2nd prizemoney. Moving from Kassel, Germany, to tax-free-London some months ago was definitely not the worst decision he made. Congratulations to one of those you have to envy.
Find all details about the matches at the link above. A German interview with Moritz can be viewed at hochgepokert.de beginning at minute 23:45.

MTT win for $30k – Every Hand revealed

8 06 2010

A lot of you guys asked me how I managed to win the $109 MTT and I was always fascinated by the book “Every Hand revealed” by Gus Hansen, so I will try to write something similar with my own thoughts and the given facts.

Buyin: $109
Entrants: 1,742
Date: June 6, 2010 – 13:00 ET
Starting Stack: 3,000

Early:
In the beginning of the tournament I play somehow semi-tight as I usually always do. I am playing about 10-12 MTTs and Satellites the same time, so I play little tighter than usually. In hand #21 I win my first flip with vs. and double up to 6,000 just to lose a lot of them in another setup in hand #69 with vs. . My stack is crippled to 1,392 and I have a lot of problems with my pc. TableNinja manages to auto-click the timebank-button and I can fix the problem when my timebank is already down to one second.
In my mind I am already done with this tournament when my great run of nice setups begins. Read the rest of this entry »

PlauZee’s NewsCorner

  • New Database:
As a consequence to my big losses in May I decided to focus more on preparing for each session and improved the way of my game-tracking a lot. I designed a new Excel-Form and hopefully can present very detailed stats every month from now on.
  • New VPP-Ranking:
I wrote Steve from PStars-Support to publish my VPP-stats in the SNE-Thred on 2+2. At the moment I’m still in top30 of VPP-grinders and will maybe reach 1,25 mio VPPs (for another 10k bonus) in 2010. But I will think about it when (hopefully just a matter of time) I reached Elite.
  • New Attempt of Defraud:
I don’t get contacted often via msn by unknown players, but when they do it’s almost always a typical scammer talk: “Hey, I’m a fan of u… I made a lot of money with poker as well (ofc with another account)… But I needed to cashout 99,99% of my roll and I was hoping that maybe u could stake me for some k’s“.
Nothing special, but it reminds me that I wanted to post the link to the sickest scam I ever read (old thread, but very readable): How I lost My Life Roll to Robert Andersson” (by PrimordialAA)
  • New Cheating Scandal:
49 player Chinese cheating scandal on PokerStars Double or Nothing SNGs
A team of at least 49 Chinese players on PokerStars have been caught colluding in Double or Nothing SNGs. As a result of this organised cheating ring, an estimated total of around $750,000 has been stolen from innocent players
!” –> Read Full Article at Daleroxxu’s blog
The story is really sick, but doesn’t surprise me at all. Cheating at DoNs/STTs (Single-Table-Tournaments) is def easiest way ever to make a lot of money very fast. It’s just almost impossible to get caught if you are not too dumb to make it obvious. And, no, I never played them seriously, but feel free to report me^^
    /Edit in July:
PokerStars payed $587,000 to cheated players.
  • New Book:
When I travelled to my girlfriend last week I bought World Without End” by Ken Follett and I’m already half through the 1,2k pages. I read more than ten books from Follett so far, cuz I love his writing style so much. “World Without End” is a must-read for those who like historian novels.
  • New Apartment:
Today, my flat mate told me he will move in together with his gf, so I have to choose if I stay in the actual apartment or move to another one to live alone there. Last months I was pretty annoyed by my actual living situation – the apartment is nothing special, but it’s ok, but the neighborhood just sux and I def don’t wanna donate another bike to the donks. So my decision to search a new accommodation is pretty easy imo. I will move around September. If anybody of u lives in Brunswick and is searching for a partner for grinding Friday Fight Nights feel free to contact me. But I guess, this time, I will just take a nice 2-room apartment on my own.
  • New Bike:
Recently some guys stole my 2-year-old bike. I have no clue who stole it, but I guess it were some of those sick gamblers who just need some more bucks to donate very soon back to my closest HU SNG-friends and me. I hate it when I can’t take the bike to go some place and therefor didn’t go as often to the gym as I wanted. I will hopefully get the money back from the insurance very soon and don’t care that much anymore, but was pretty pissed. Some days ago I finally bought my new bike.
  • New Stats:
    +$5.518
    589,000 VPPs

9k Losses and some more Fun

1 06 2010

I finished May with a loss of $9,125 in total (rakeback and the 500k-milestone included). Of course it does hurt, but I try not to get influenced by it too much. I didn’t play my best game in a lot of matches last month and I spotted a lot of situations where I made crucial mistakes which I maybe done already before. When you are railing me you will see a lot of differences in my betting patterns and -sizes, cuz of some things I need to try and to improve. I’m still very confident with my game, but I feel the need to improve in very special situations vs different opponent-characters.  Adjusting to different opponents is one of those parts you can never optimize, you can just try to improve more and more.
I will focus on 230s and 345s for a while and hopefully grind it back very soon. I’m still rolled enough for bum hunting at higher stakes, so let’s see if some of my favorites gonna open-sit at the nosebleeds. I won’t risk too much of my own money there, but I’ll definitely be there to hunt them. 8)

I had a very funny chat with treezer about Fishenzon in a session earlier today after I played a very strange hand (HandReplay) at a 2k turbo HU SNG (one of those very rare bum hunting games ;) ).
