Bored by grinding Stars, crushing FTP

30 07 2010

July was the month with my biggest swings ever. It happened a lot of times that I lost 5k+ just a day after I won almost the same amount before. I was up to about 42k in the middle of July and lost big afterwards. Thanks to my great excel sheet I track every game on PokerStars very well since the middle of June and have a very well overview about good and bad sessions what is very important for me. In July I played 1,075 2man HUs with an average buyin of  $562 and won 54,54% of them what is ok, but not what I maybe could reach if I was playing my best A-Game all the time. I’m up about 29k on Stars with HU SNGs this month and lost about 2k in MTTs and STTs where I ran horrible bad. So overall a pretty nice profit of 27k – even though I lost both 5k HU SNGs which I played an my own and where I couldn’t sell action in time. Ofc I only won those 5ks where I sold percentages. I run so bad.. Note in mind: save the 11k next month!
Cuz of the huge swings I had I decided to block myself from 2k+ games some days ago and plan to focus more on the 230s-570s for a while.

I’m at 864k VPP at the moment and will probably reach Supernova Elite even before WCOOP MainEvent starts. A free entry for a $5,200 MTT wouldn’t be that bad.
Two weeks ago PokerStars released the 2010′s WCOOP events and I’m glad they decided to run a 2day $215 HU MTT.

I got bored by grinding Stars recently and decided to follow Primo’s pace more often in future. Primo is crushing the Superturbos on FTP in the sickest possible. At the moment he still runs a prop bet for 10k/20k that he’s able to reach a ROI of 3%+ before rakeback with the Superturbos over 2k games. See the 2+2 thread for more, it’s just awesome!
FullTilt’s Superturbos have a rake of about 1,5% in average and start with 500 chips at 10-20. The blinds increase every 2 minutes to 20-40, 25-50 where almost every game is over already.
I didn’t think it was possible to make that much money that easy, but needed to try it on my own. Some days ago I gave it a shot and played 350 games so far:

I had a very sick run in the beginning and got lucky a lot of times. I ran over EV (red line) for a while, but saw a LOT of horrible mistakes by my opponents as well. If there is one pokersite and one game where it’s possible to make a lot of money very fast it’s definitely FullTiltPoker and their Superturbos! It’s crazy how easy it is to trap the opponents and how bad they are in standard fold/shoving-decisions. I recently played a huge fish who minraised EVERY button, but still could fold with a stack of 250 when he already raised to 100 on blinds 25/50.
The edge in those games isn’t big, but it’s still possible to adjust, read and outplay the opponent. A lot of regs think my best game in the turbo HUs is when blinds increase to 25-50 and the endgame in general. In the Superturbos you start with 25 BBs which could fit to my game perfectly. So beside reaching Supernova Elite on PokerStars I will play some more of these sick 2-minute-games and see how I will do in future. Follow me on FullTiltPoker where I use the same nick as everywhere.

Just reached 800,000 VPP

16 07 2010

I just reached the 800k milestone and bought the milestone-bonus worth $4,200 net. The next milestone is at 1mega VPP increasing the rakeback of 2010 to 58%.

Including rakeback and the bonus I’m up $36,000 in July. But WSOP is over and highstakes-grinders are back at the nosebleeds so I expect to play way smaller buyins after a break. I guess the months of 30k+ are over for a while, but we will see… ;)

gg Primo. Place 147 is still a very nice finish. Grats to $57,102!

Hey guys, some of you might have noticed my blog is out of order. I had to shut it down for a while because of negative reactions related to my university study. Which is understandable because it’s a lot sensitive information there that could easily be provocative. I’ll let you know when it’s up running again. Until then, run ok.” Best, up and coming clubber, T.Nyland.

Good Game.

Germany is out. Beaten by far better spanish team who owned us almost the same way we did vs Argentina. It’s sick that Germany didn’t find any chance against the overwhelming spanish midfield. Enjoy the Finals and better don’t watch Germany losing once again. They never lost a match for 3rd place so far, but somehow I’m pretty sure they will…

After playing two veeeery sick HU-sessions with a lot of action at the 1k+ I’m already up 25,5k this month. I’ve played almost only 570+ with an average buy in of 1k this month. Cuz of this sick run it’s best moment to play higher buyins and to play a larger volume of games to get the best out it. Right?!
NO! The opposite is true!
It’s one of those important moments when you have to know when it’s time to take a step back. It’s similar to run very bad, but somehow different. When you are tilting hard you don’t wanna stop playing and want to win the losses back. I’m glad I didn’t have these problems over last months anymore. But when you are running hot as I do right now it’s almost the same just harder to recognize. The decisions I make aren’t best anymore because I somehow feel I can’t lose at the moment. The game-management isn’t best anymore, because I don’t wanna grind 230s/345s for “pocket money” anymore. Horrible fail!

That’s why I decided to take a 24h cool out and to play one hour per day as maximum afterwards to calm little down and to get other important stuff done.
The graph shows my July winnings in green, the EV in red. It’s the raw data graph and sold percentages of my 2k and 5k games are not included.

Gl guys and don’t bust the MTT-fishes too fast please,
Chris

OWNING the WorldCup

3 07 2010

Germany: 4
Argentina: Nullll

I’m staying at Berlin visiting my girlfriend this weekend. What we’ve seen today is just AWESOME. I can’t remember seeing any of those big matches where Germany crushed the opponent as they did today. One of those matches you will never forget. One of those matches you can’t stop cheering and just wanna be there to enjoy the moment. Berlin is going crazy. I love it!
Even though I’ve played soccer for 13 years in the upper league I’m not that much a national soccer fan. But when it comes to European Football Championship or the World Cup I just LOVE it. Let’s enjoy it. Let’s party all night. We gonna ship the sh**! Cuz we are the Big Tymers!

If there is any way to find back to today’s strength in the Semifinals and the Finals there is definitely no way to stop us. Nobody ever thought we would crush a team like Argentina that easily. We beat them, not only tactically but physically as well. Watching and analyzing both tactics showed how much better we actually were. They didn’t have any chance any time. wp Maradonna. nice try. gg sir & feel free to reload.
I would love to see Holland reaching the Finals. Give us all the best opponents and let us run good just ONE TIME! I really hope for Spain and Holland they will be better prepared than today’s victim. Otherwise it gonna be the sickest WorldCup overrun ever! :D
