Some short news around the HU SNG world and about me, the more or less perfect student and non-poker-pro… 8)
First, I want to share two very interesting German(!) links about HU SNG poker pro’s:
Jan, ‘Waaaghbozz’, recently wrote a guest part of the very new German book “Sit’n Go Poker”. I haven’t started reading yet, but I’m sure it’s definitely worth it and considering the authors and contents probably the best book for modern online SNG poker.
‘Bjoerni89′, the most popular German HU SNG poker pro and blogging colleague of Jan, recently made a great interview for pokerstrategy.de where he became member of the month as well. It takes 38 minutes and is very worth the time you should take to enjoy. It helps a lot to get a feeling for some poker pro’s situations and thoughts.
A lot of players contact me with very similar questions, one of those is how they could improve their game effective and easily. PokerStars recently included a very small, but great option to hide the hole cards. It sounds weird first, but it’s one of the best way to improve your feeling for post flop situations and to adjust to your opponents betting patterns, time tells and to play more and more aggressive, no matter which cards you hold. It’s one of the most important lessons I teach my students who now don’t need to have stickies at their screen, but can choose the option to play blinded. Choose ‘Options‘->’Table Display Options‘ and ‘Hide hole cards‘ to improve your postflop game at lower buyins.
After several mails I recently published my old blog posts, like the most popular ‘The Truth about Online Poker Grinding‘ again.
My friend Ryan from HUSNG.com is working on characteristics for every well known HU SNG poker player. It’s still in work, but you can already have a look at one of the most impressive super-turbo HU SNG crushers: serkules.
Grats to Matej, ‘mtvdeuem‘, who had a very great time recently crushing the games. He’s working at his own blog which hopefully will be online very soon. You better write it in English, bro!
For me poker becomes more and more an effective way to make some money easily – not much anymore, but still decent. I don’t play much recently and lost the stamina to play longer sessions and higher buyins. I haven’t lost big money before this happened, but it was probably about time to cancel my online poker pro career and focus on other things which becomes more and more important by time.
I’m back to university to finish my studies where I’ll concentrate on most in future. Beside that I do play poker from time to time, but probably less than I did before I started writing this blog two years ago. After my trip to EPT London where I met the guys of Skrill I take my affiliate job more serious again and see lots of possibilities in those kind of business stuff. There are possible partnerships at the poker world I could think of. Nothing fixed yet, but a way I could take being part of the poker community, making good money without grinding that much anymore.
Oh, and btw, grinding at OsX sux a lot! There is literelly no way to grind decent amount of games or multitable using OsX and none of those little helpers I’m used to. I’ll have to install Win7 as 2nd system very soon again. Sux as well, but only way I see to enjoy poker as I’m supposed to.
Cheers
Chris
